Poet, literary critic and essayist. Born on October 19th 1957 in Sîngatin (Sibiu). He graduated in 1980 from the Faculty of Letters (Roumanian –French) and got his Ph. D. title (1998) at "Babes-Bolyai" University of Cluj-Napoca. As a student, he was a member of the literary group of Echinox, a cultural magazine in Cluj-Napoca. At present, he teaches Comparative Literature, at the Department of Romanian Language and Literature, Faculty of Letters and Arts, "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu; he is also bringing out the Euphorion literary magazine, being its editor-in-chief. He made his debut in Transilvania literary magazine. His editorial debut took place in 1982 at Albatros Publishing House, with the volume of poetry Seara adolescentina/ A Teeanager's Evening, book for which he was awarded the Prize of the Romanian Writers' Union. This first book was followed by other volumes of poetry: Secolul sfîrseste într-o duminica/ The Century Ends on a Sunday (Cartea Româneasca, 1991), Noaptea din zi / The Night Within the Day (Biblioteca Euphorion, 1994), Radiografiile timpului/ The Radiography of Time (anthology; Axa 1998), Vara de fosfor/ Phosphorous Summer (anthology; Dacia, 2002), Viata si opiniile profesorului Mouse/ The Life and Opinions of Professor Mouse (Limes, 2004), Clipe fosforescente/Phosphorescent Instants (Ed. Limes, 2007) and literary criticism as well ? Poetica temporalitatii. Eseu asupra poeziei românesti / Time's Poetics. Essay on the Romanian Poetry (Dacia, 2000), Developari în perspectiva.Generatia poetica 80 în portrete critice /Developments in Perspective.Poetic Generation of the '80s in Some Critical Portraits (Cartea Româneasca, 2004) and anthologies ? Antologia poeziei românesti de la origini pâna azi/ The Anthology of Romanian Poetry from Its Origins up to the Present (together with Ioan Radu Vacarescu; Paralela 45, 1998). He also edited the collective volume of critical essays The City and Literature (Art Publishing House, 2008) and recently has authored The Art of Comparison. Studies and essays of Comparative and Romanian Literature (Limes Publishing House, 2009). His poems have been translated into English, French, German and Italian. He is a member of the Romanian Writers' Union (since 1990), a member of the Romanian PEN-Club (since 1997) and also a member of the Association for General and Comparative Literature of Romania.
