Peisaje, naturi statice, nuduri redate intr-o atmosfera de rafinata senzualitate, combinatii subtile ale tonurilor de culoare, acorduri cromatice de o coplesitoare delicatete – toate aceste maiestre realizari ale penelului marelui pictor Theodor Pallady il invita pe privitor la contemplare, reflectie, admiratie. Sunt tablouri mai putin cunoscute publicului de azi (multe provenind din colectii particulare), ale caror insusiri trezesc interesul fata de opera acestui senior al picturii romanesti. Artistul s-a dovedit a fi pastratorul unui tezaur de sensibilitate si de traditie artistica ce-l leaga de creatiile maestrilor anonimi, zugravi ai frescelor din vechile lacasuri de cult moldovenesti, in sensul constructiei simple si riguroase, al stilizarilor intemeiate pe o desavarsita logica a simplificarilor, a cromaticii rafinate, amintind transparenta culorilor vegetale. Intre Pallady si Matisse, colegi in atelierul aceluiasi maestru de la Paris, dar mai ales prieteni de o viata, s-au remarcat unele similitudini; si totusi, desi aceeasi tendinta de sinteza apare la amandoi, Matisse se dovedeste mai decorativ si mai abstract, iar Pallady mai intim si mai rafinat. Pentru bucuria de a privi opere exceptionale, pentru privilegiul de a urmari, prin paginile Corespondentei, amicitia deosebita dintre cei doi artisti de exceptie, pentru dreptul primit de a-l cunoaste pe Pallady, cel care se confeseaza in Jurnal, si pentru ca era necesar sa ne fie din nou aproape, va invitam sa deschideti albumul dedicat lui si aparut in ingrijirea lui Alexandru Cebuc, acelasi pasionat de Marea Pictura.

Landscapes, still natures, nudes rendered in a sophisticated sensual atmosphere, subtle combination of shades, chromatic compositions of an overwhelming delicacy – all these remarkable accomplishments of the great painter Theodor Pallady invite the spectator to contemplate, reflect and admire. These aren`t well known paintings to the contemporary public (many of them are in private collections), but their characteristics evoke interest towards the work of this true senior of Romanian painting. The artist was proven to be the guardian of a real treasure of sensibility and artistic tradition that connects him to the works of the anonymous masters, painters of the frescoes in the ancient Moldavian churches, as to the simple and rigorous structure, to stylizations based on a perfect logics of simplicity, of subtle chromatic, recalling the transparency of vegetable colors. Between Pallady and Matisse, colleagues in the studio of their master in Paris and lifetime friends, were noticed some similarities; although this tendency towards synthesis can be discovered to both of them, Matisse proves to be more ornamental and abstract, while Pallady, more intimate and more subtle.
